The legend of Icarus tells us that technology will not ultimately satisfy our desire to transcend our earthbound selves. True flight occurs on wings of the mind, whether on the mythic wings of angels and demons, or the virtual wings of today's digital avatars of the gaming universe. Four stilt-walkers avatars appear in Act III, waering translucent wings and traditional West Indian screen masks enter the playing area. Their 9 attendants are tall abstract “spirit poles” loosely figurative yet ethereal and formless.
